A Columbia Heights Rowhouse with a Stylish History Goes Under Contract

The beautiful living room of 1239 Kenyon served as the backdrop for the cover of my book “Pulling It All Together”

I love beautiful places and have been exploring the design of new homes since I was a kid. My Mother would watch the Sunday open house shows with her notepad close at hand, then we’d jump into her Cadillac and hit the road on our way to explore new homes near and far. So when I first saw this freshly renovated luxurious row house that in the heart of Columbia Heights (listed by Mandy Mills of The Mandy & David Team at Compass), I knew that it would soon make a wonderful home for it’s new owners and in the meantime, I wanted to capture it’s beauty by making it the backdrop for the cover shoot of my new book “Pulling It All Together” which debuts this fall. The house is another exquisite masterpiece by my dear friends Brook Rose & DB Lee Development, who have paid meticulous attention to every detail. The historic exterior opens onto a modern, clean interior, with crisp, white walls bathed in natural light from the bay windows on every floor.

Spanning four floors, this gorgeous home is a showcase for entertaining. A large marble island and spectacular chandelier anchor the open kitchen, allowing you to mingle with guests while you cook. Enjoy cocktails on the rooftop deck off the third floor loft, complete with wet bar.

The kitchen of 1239 Kenyon with it’s massive marble island is simply gorgeous and truly a chef’s dream

The spa bathrooms are lavish retreats, with marble counters, dual flush toilets and rain showers. Each bathroom offers well-appointed details, such as herringbone, marble tile or a contemporary bathtub.

A potential ground-floor apartment is a sumptuous home in its own right, with marble tiles and counters, two bathrooms including an en-suite bath, a back patio and ample closet space.

Rare for a rowhouse, a first floor family room can be found in the rear of 1239 Kenyon

In addition to working with photographer Chris Mills to shoot the cover and other shots for my book in the house, I also worked with my friends at The Mandy & David Team of Compass to host a Sunday Funday brunch which brought together some of my favorite ladies who brunch like Charrisse Jordan of The Real Housewives of Potomac and the fabulous Fox 5 Anchor Shawn Yancy. The brunch even made the Washington Post the next day!

And now, this beautiful home is under contract and ready to make many priceless memories with it’s new owners.
